Battery packs are a super tough plastic case (no one has ever worn it out!) enclosing and protecting top quality nickel/cadmium cells which give a long user life, high power output and deteriorate little with age The batteries are very shock resistant and so water resistant that they are commonly used by cave divers.
The headlamp unit is common to all three models and is a modified and improved version of the "miners" type caplamp proven all over the world A tough, water-resitant reflector chamber holds twin bulbs and is operated by a simple external switch The connecting cable is the very tough but flexible mining type and the elastomeric plug secures easily to the battery
The original FX2 headtorch immediately became the standard cavers lamp on its introduction in 1983 The FX3 and FX5 battery packs give higher power outputs for minimal weight increase, offering improved performance and flexibility | |
