The long, slim carbon butt puts the sensitive tip higher above the surf to reduce the wave motion and so improve the already legendary bite detection. Although rated at 5oz, the tip is equally capable of holding bottom with a 3oz for lighter work, without tip bounce pulling the lead. The extra length of the rod helps when casting longer match rigs.
