The main strengths of the rod were the great bite detection with a nice casting action suitable for small soft baits. So when we were asked if it was possible to produce a rod with the same characteristics but at a more affordable price we assessed the situation. The need for such a rod was because the angler has his all-rounder fishing rod, but also requires a second choice rod when fishing conditions change to scratching around for flounder or whiting, but not costing him the same price as his main rod. The lift Cono-flex Flattie Fanatic has filled this role very well till you need that extra length, so let me introduce you to the Cono-flex SOURCE Estuary Match, all the qualities of the top performance SOURCE but easier on the pocket.  Conoflex Source Rod 13ft 5oz

Rec. Retail Price £386.50 13ft. Optimum Casting Weight: 3-5oz We were asked to design a match style rod that was slim, light with a soft responsive tip that could cast to 5 oz but hold bottom with 3. A tall order maybe but that’s what the source does. The tip is a fast taper allowing a sensitive tip to progress to a mid section, capable of controlling a 5oz lead, to keep the butt slim we used a spigot to a high modulus carbon butt that takes a DPS 24 mm fitting. The rod casts soft worm baits well and takes the impact out short choppy surf that leaves the bait and weight on the bottom. I have had fantastic sport with smooth hounds but also seen the rattle of pin whiting. A good choice for the serious match angler.

A soft action tip pushing into a light/slim High Modulus Carbon butt, this rod will catch the eye of those looking for a nice snitching rod to add to their bag of fishing tools. With an optimum casting weight of 4 - 5 ounces this rod will cast the lighter weights to roll around in the surf, through to the slightly heavier needed to claim that extra distance. This is a smooth caster unlikely to blow up those soft baits. The soft tip action also sets nicely in the stand, giving a very responsive bite detection even to the shyest of fish. Making it a great fishing rod to the Catch and Release match angler. The rod’s lightness in weight together with it’s two equal sections assists the roaming angler moving from mark to mark.
